The Mendelssohn-Gesellschaft e. V., a non-profit association under the patronage of Daniel Barenboim, brings the history of the Mendelssohn quarter around the Gendarmenmarkt in Berlin to public awareness through concerts, lectures, discussions, exhibitions and guided tours.

In 2017 it commissioned Stan Hema to redesign and develop it's new website.

Navigation

Combines the best of two worlds
01

The information architecture of the website has a flat hierarchy with many different pages. Classic navigation was therefore not an option. A hamburger navigation would clear up the site visually but it would deteriorate the usability considerably.

We were able to allocate all pages meaningfully to only two meta categories and created a navigation, which is clean and understandable at the same time.

Transitions and Animations

Celebrating what is the most important – the stories
02

We deepen the reading experience through animations and transitions.

Events Management

High performance through JSON API
03

Kirby as CMS allows you easily to create a JSON API, so that we are able to load the events of a whole year immediately and enable fast onpage navigation.
